Austria Klagenfurt is fighting against bankruptcy. The times at second-tier club Austria Klagenfurt are more than turbulent. It has now become known that the Klagenfurt Regional Court has opened insolvency proceedings against the assets of SK Austria GmbH and the assets of the club SK Austria Klagenfurt. This is a bankruptcy procedure. In both cases, the amount of liabilities is not yet known. 34 employees of the GmbH and 8 of the club are affected by the insolvency. Main shareholder Zeljko Karajica announces an appeal, because we are solvent. They have proven funds in the millions. Therefore, the game operations would continue. Other clubs like FAC could benefit from a possible relegation of Austria Klagenfurt. If the bankruptcy proceedings become legally valid, Klagenfurt would have to be relegated. Gold dealer Helmut Kaltenegger is supposed to return as main sponsor after the interlude around the relegation. The first creditors' meeting is scheduled to take place on March 31. The license for the current season was awarded to Klagenfurt Austria in the second instance in April of the previous year. The problems of smaller clubs like Austria Klagenfurt are not new. In 2008, FC Kärnten went bankrupt, in 2010 Austria Kärnten went bankrupt. The future of Austria Klagenfurt remains uncertain. But for now, the club will continue to play. And the fans will continue to support their team. The question is, for how long?
